Norden newspaper, 18 Mar 2004, has the following obituary for Rolf Alfred Eklund, who died 28 Jan 2004 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born in Kimo, Oravais on 7 Aug 1936 to Erik Eklund and Katarina Kullman Eklund. The family fled Finland during World War II and sailed to America on the MS Gripsholm. The New York Times featured the Eklund famly when they arrived in New York City because they were the largest family aboard. The family settled in Jersey City, NJ where Rolf earned his bachelor's degree in history at Jersey City State College. He graduated as a US Air Force cadet in 1956 at Lackland Air Force Base.
He married Janelle McNair in 1959 and they had two children, Charles and Katherine. Rolf taught at Richland High School from 1965 until he retired in 1997.
