Edward Dutton, Professor of Finnish Culture at Oulu University suspects that movie star Renee Zellweger had plastic surgery which eradicated a key facial feature of her Norwegian Sami heritage in order to look more traditionally European. Renee used to be distinctive looking with her narrow eyes and epicanthic eye folds because she is an unusual genetic mixture. She has a Swiss father and a mother who is part Kven and part Sami, giving her an "eastern" face. Mr. Dutton compared her to another famous example.. of Michael Jackson who underwent plastic surgery to make himself look more European.
A Finnish student who recently went missing from the city of Pori is suspected of traveling to Syria to fight with ISIS. Finnish Security Intelligence Service (Supo) is investigating the ISIS links of the 21-year-old student who had been studying at Satakunta University. He disappeared after sending his brother an email informing him of his intentions to fight in the Syrian war.
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra has created a database of the most concerts and pieces that 21 major American orchestras will play during the coming season. Finnish composers are the third-most performed living composers, with 5 1/2% of all the performances, following US with 54 1/2% and the UK with nearly 9%. Composer and conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen is the 5th most performed living composer with 14 performances scheduled for the coming season.

The mass gap between neutron stars and stellar mass black holes is a question that has been a matter of inquiry for numerous research teams. The object now discovered and designated SWIFT J1753.5-0127 has a mass somewhere between that of a conventionally-recognized black hole and a neutron star. Previously, observed neutron stars have been found to have less than two solar masses, while black holes have over five.
