Finland has moved down from fourth to fifth place of most-taxed economies in the developed world. Total taxation in Finland in 2004 with respect to GDP fell from 44.8% in 2003 to 44.3%. That compares with 48% in 2000. Last year, Sweden topped all countries with 50.6% followed by Denmark 49.6% and Belgium 45.6%. The lowest was Mexico 18.5%, the US and South Korea with 25.4%. The average tax ratio was found in the U.K 36.1% and Germany 34.6%.
