I have some new information from Sweden concerning a relative and am wondering if one of our members knows about the Swedish justice system in 1880's?
At the bottom of his passport was the notation "förlustig medborgerligt förtroende till 18840123." The passport was issued in early 1883. I am told it means that he was sentenced to lose his citizen reliances until 23 Jan 1884They also said it was common that extra punishment was given for certain "crimes."
Does anyone know what types of crimes would warrant this? Not sure how bad it was as he wasn't incarcerated and was allowed to emigrate. Also, what exactly does loss of citizen reliances mean? Got me puzzled.
