Esther Julia Carlson, 98 of Longview, WA passed away 22 Oct 2004. She was born 8 May 1906 in Woonsocket, RI to Andrew Henrik (Anders Hindrik) Johansson Pihl and Anna (Grönlund) Johnson and moved from Portland, OR in 1924. Her husband Emil Carlson died in 1972. Her brothers were Leonard, Runar and Gilbert Johnson. She is survived by daughter Donna Jellison and son Richard Carlson, plus many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Woonsocket was once a very popular destination for immigrants from Korsnäs. Esther's father had his roots in Närpes as well as in Korsnäs. Her mother Anna Grönlund was born in Taklax, Korsnäs. Esther's husband Emil Carlson's parents, Joe and Lena Carlson, came to the US from Närpes.
