    Food prices this year are expected to rise 4.5% compared to last year. Fruit and vegetables are expensive, not only in Finland but in all of Europe.

    Despite a rise in the cost of overnight hotel stays abroad, prices are stable in Finland. The average price in Finland is 100 euros per night, while the most expensive is 108 euros in Tammerfors.

    The average pension in Finland was 1,370 euros at the end of 2010, which is 26 euros more than the year before. Men received 1,561 E. and women 1,217 E. At the end of 2010, 1,463,000 people received pensions. The greater part of them, or 1,035,000 people received retirement pensions.

    American Airlines will launch direct flights in May between Helsinki and Chicago.

    According to a Global English Proficiency index, Finlanders rank in 5th place in knowledge of the English language. Norwegians were in 1st place, Dutch in 2nd place, Danish in 3rd place and the Swedes in 4th place.
