A few days ago, a friend asked me if Finland and Sweden had "poetic nursery rhymes" as we do here in the U.S. (ie. "One, two, buckle my shoe." Or, "Jack and Jill went up the hill.")
My Finnish-born mother was a masterful storyteller and often spoke in parables and proverbs. She also taught me some Finnish and Swedish songs.
But, I don't remember any Swedish or Finnish "poetic nursery rhymes" from my childhood.
Would appreciate any comments on this subject.
