Some members who knew of Birger Lindqvist will be saddened to learn that he died of leukemia on Oct. 21, 2003 in Gamlakarleby, Finland at age 85. He was an inveterate researcher for over 50 years, searching old records in archives in Sweden and Finland. His ancestor Pehr Dawedzain was from one of the early families in Gamlakarleby. In 1786 Anders Chydenius changed the family's name to Lindqvist. Birger's research included his father's link to Charlemagne (Karl den Store) and also Gorm the Old and various other kings. He was related to both of my parents through his mother.
