Hurricane Charley

It was about this time 6 years ago today that Hurricane Charley roared through my town at 150 miles per hour, destroying 6 schools and nearly all of our fire stations, plus over 11,000 homes and businesses, but only 4 people were killed. It has taken 6 years to rebuild all the schools and the final one reopened last week just in time for the first day of school. Our schools start in August rather than September. There will be no more celebrations on the anniversary of Charley - people want to put it behind them and get on with their lives.

Hello Carl. It's good to hear from you again. Yes, my church was rebuilt and we had many generous members who donated a new organ, grand piano, pews, pulpit, etc. Here's a picture of the church - picture not large enough to see much. http://www.htlchurch.org/
