    "...On road 5 in Eastern Finland from Kuhmo north, shortly before arriving at Suomussalmi one can find a field covered with blocks of natural stone. The stones, placed like tank hinders, fill a three acre field all the way to the edge of the forest hundreds of meters away. They are part of the Memorial to the Winter War. Every stone, 23800 in total, symbolizes a fallen soldier, Finn as well as Russian, on the road to Raate..."
